Unhappy Turret Issue after Battery Dead Al-62 SKT21 LMS built 2010

    Hi Folks,
I've tried the usual reset protocols after the Battery is replaced.
Done the Keeper Relay #5.0 to 1 and all.
I've done the routine a dozen times pressing even a few times with the three button holding portions.
It will set all the PMC values that I've seen to Tool 1 and looks to be all set.
Even done power off and back on to see if there was a need for it.
    Here's where it goes wonky!
If I don't move the turret to a new position and attempt to set tool 1 using the "Qsetter" it will open the table to tool 1.
If I rotate the turret to position 2 (or anywhere else) it sends the table to Tool 16 and no matter where the turret is it opens the table to tool 16 forever after.
If I try to program the turret move in MDI or Prog Mode, the turret indexes and clamps but never moves to the next line.
I did check the switches to be sure the clamp and unclamp switches swap 0's and 1's during a manual move. It is clamping! but the line never finishes...never!
I have been at this too long to get this far and not succeed... but folks this one is weird.
I have even taken the new battery out and brought up the original alarm...hoping to start from scratch and no different result.

This is only a 12 tool position turret!

Has anyone accidentally changed the data bit table? It’s possible to change number of tools using D9 bit 0 and1. Other than that has anyone activated 1/2 station indexing?

I’d try watching feedback from encoder as well to make sure that it’s not glitching. It may be that rather than battery causing the error.

We haven't messed with the D9 and not sure how to access. Not using half station either...
Encoder counts 3000 each interchange manually with a margin of 1 or 2 pulses. I thought I saw it rotate one time and leave the value the same....but never saw that again and it was an even 3000 pulses/ count the next switch...I could watch for inconsistency but wouldn't it be more obvious. not an entire change with no pulses...like a missed stop or a half swap?
    Thanks,
    HN

    A few questions:
Does the turret lock down properly on each station?
Does the encoder number increase by 30 degrees on every index?
If you are getting clamp/unclamp signals does FIN signal go out or remain ON?
I would suggest looking in the ladder to see if anything else is triggering the station count improperly.

    Best regards,

Re: Turret Issue after Battery Dead Al-62 SKT21 LMS built 2010

So found a post from different model and SKT.
Solved by changing this PMM parameter.

Find PMM parameters (not so easy), change PMM parameter 11.0 to 1 (it should be 10000001) Hit mode select, spindle stop and feed hold
all this after re-applying the Battery procedure.
Digging into the why yet... ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS PARAMETER IS?

    From the other forum...in quotes.
"1. Set keep relay 5.0 back to 0
    2. Find PMM parameters (not so easy), change PMM parameter 11.0 to 1 (it should be 10000001)
    3. Hit mode select, spindle stop and feed hold
    4. Set keep relay 5.0 to 1
    5. Shut down machine
    6. Power up.
    7. Home machine again
    8. Hit mode select, spindle stop and feed hold again
    9. Power off again
    10. Start again and home.
    11. Just to be safe, hit mode select, spindle stop and feed hold again "

Here's what I have on your turret. A turret recovery procedure and a Data Bit table like I mentioned before and was asking if it had ben changed.

11.0 is mentioned, but see reference table, it looks like 11.0 is M vs non-M turret.

Does anyone have a sequence for finding the PMM parameters page in a Fanuc Oi-TC controller for a SKT 21-LMS lathe?

Should be: system -> PMM (power mate mng) -> Parameter

    Best regards,
Hi OkumaWiz, I think I'm having a similar issue and was wondering how to check the encoder to see if maybe that's it.

I have a SKT100 that will unclamp rotate and it seems like it doesn't get a signal to tell the hydraulic syl. that it's in position and ready to clamp.

Unhappy Re: Turret Issue after Battery Dead Al-62 SKT21 LMS built 2010

I have a Turret problem on an 2004 SKT21LMS. OiTb control. It is a low time machine in excellent condition that we use only for dedicated work. It sat for a few months, started it up and it gave a battery warning. I changed both batteries as I have in the past, and the first time I re-indexed the Turret it worked, except tool #1 was in Tool 7. It would start a program moving the turret in X and Z, it just would not change tools properly. So I re-indexed the turret and got an AL61 error. I tried multiple times to reset with pmm 011 following the manual, checking the switching x1000 and y10003 toggle, which it did not do, so I would force the settings. Now I have AL60 alarm (2060) "Turret Index Power off" and nothing I do with keep 05 or pmm 0011 does any good. Turret remains unlocked. It wont move in x z or clamp with bz/off. The Bit Indicator lights on the servo amps are U. Which I believe is correct.

I did read on one forum there should be four LEDs lit on the servo amp, which I presume is the one that needed the 6v battery down on the left. There is only one LED lit. But I dont know if this is true.

Does anyone know how to turn the turret power back on? Could I have lost the parmeters somehow?

is there by any chance you got the al60 alarm sorted, sitting here with the same problem on 2004 skt15 oitb

2060 in case you mean "turret index power off" it means you haven´done the fll turret procedure. seems you missed to set the turret position inside PMC to position 1.

Mode select” (small select button on the right side of the OP Panel where mdi memory edit tape is available) + “spindle stop” + “feedhold. but everything is already explained in previous posts

Re: Turret Issue after Battery Dead Al-62 SKT21 LMS built 2010

You're experiencing a turret issue on your 12-position Hwacheon SKT21 LMS lathe after a battery failure, where it defaults to Tool 16 and hangs during program execution, despite performing the usual reset steps like setting Keeper Relay 5.0 and confirming clamp/unclamp signals. This is likely due to a mismatch between the turret's actual position and the control’s memory, a corrupted tool table, or a missing clamp confirmation signal in the ladder logic, which prevents the M-function from completing. To resolve it, ensure the turret is mechanically aligned to Tool 1, reset the memory position, check tool offset tables, verify PMC signals during turret clamping, and consider reloading backed-up parameters if available.
