Artcam Pro 9 Crashes after Monitor Change HELP!

I just change monitors from an NEC to an LG and added a second monitor ,a Dell 1901FP, so I have a dual monitor setup. When I added the second monitor I added a Radeon 7500 video card 64mb so the Dell could have DVI as well. With the LG I am using the original video card a Radeon 9550 with 128 mb. Artcam starts fine but when I try to open a file or create a new one it crashes. So I figure it has to do with the new monitors and I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, still the same can't get past the opening screen. Any suggestions. I do have a new dual DVI 512mb ATI Radeon 2400HD coming, but I want to solve the problem first. Thanks.

Ok, update, it's only been a few minutes. Anyway, I disabled the second monitor just by unchecking "extend windows desktop...". This worked!! Artcam now starts, but the whole point was to be able to use both monitors, any suggestions?

It's not the monitors, it's probably the video cards. Try using the latest drivers for them, but that's all I can offer.

Assuming you are using the AGP slot, make sure the AGP window settings in the BIOS match your AGP video card.

If no AGP card, make sure AGP window in bios is set to zero.
This can make windows go off 'into the weeds'.

I don't know what the problem is either, but I would also bet it is in the video card settings or drivers. Keep trying though, as I have been running Artcam trouble-free with two monitors with every version since Artcam 5.5 to current, so I know it's possible.

Well this sucks! I not only got a new 512 mb PCIe Card but I changed computers. I have a 3.2 GH, 2 GB of RAM Sata II 3 Gb/s HDD computer and it still doesn't work. Totally different computer and totally different motherboard, processor and video card, but same user...LOL. I don't know what to do. I have the error message, I'll post it below. What's weird is I can turn off extended desktop to my second monitor and start Artcam and open a new file, then turn on extended desktop and it will work!! I just can't have extend desktop turned on and start up artcam, just to clarify I can start artcam, but after the splash screen if I open a file or start a new file when it starts building the 2D and 3D windows that come up then it crahses.

    Here's the error I get:Error Signature
    AppName: artcampro.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.0 ModName: atioglxx.dll
    ModVer: 6.14.10.6956 Offset: 000d898c

Obviously it has to do with the video card drivers, since I've tried different versions I'm looking at probably a conflict. I could try an Nvidia chipset instead of Ati, just at the store it was harder to find dual dvi ports on a single 512mb card.

I hope this information helps and if nothing else then it may give you a few other things to check/test out.

If your problem continues to persist then it would be adviseable to get your ArtCAM reseller involved who might be able to help out.

    Heres the additional information related to running ArtCAM on dual monitors;

The notes below have been submitted and provided from someone who has successfully run ArtCAM on 2 monitors (they are not from me personally)

This is how I set my PC up to use dual monitors. It may be different for other computers.

    1. Right click on the desktop of the main computer and select (in my case) NVIDIA Display and then Laptop display.
    2. Then in the pull down box for nView Display Mode choose Dualview
    3. Use Function F8 to share your screen between monitors
    4. Open ArtCAM
    5. Create a new model
    6. On the main computer stretch the full ArtCAM screen so it becomes twice as wide
**you should notice the screen on your 2nd monitor**
    7. Tile your views vertically in ArtCAM on the main computer and drag the 2D View off your screen so that you only see it on the 2nd monitor
**you should also notice that as you drag your mouse off of the main screen it will appear on your 2nd monitor and vice versa if you drag it back**
    8. You can also move your assistant and layers pages around depending on your preference.

One important thing to note is as of yet I don't think there is a way to save your settings once you have adjusted the sizes of the windows on the dual monitors, so you may need to set this up each time you open ArtCAM.

Also FYI - a note about the final point above.....
currently the setup can not be saved, but this is on the wish list.

    I hope this helps

Sean P, thanks for the help. I thougth I had posted my solution. Basically it was ATI drivers that didn't work well. I changed to a Nvidia chipset and that worked perfect.
