    IH Blue Formula

    Hi Folks;
    We have been getting a lot of emails about the color of our mills. A great customer of ours (LW in Texas) has sent us a sample of his paint and the formula for it. We have used it and must say that is a close to perfect match of our color. We thought we should put the formula on the Zone for others to use. It is a Custom Sherman Williams oil base paint. Here is the formula.

    Thanks for the formula!

    FWIW, Rustoleum has a blue (can't remember the exact name) rattle can that also works out quite well. I primed with Rustoleum primer and then sprayed my mill table with the blue and the match is close enough you can't really tell much difference:

    PS Needed all the Z-travel on that job. Part of a 12" Disc Sander I built. You can see all the pix here with extension IH mill use: http://www.thewarfields.com/cnccookb...DiscSander.htm

    Ford "Grabber Blue" might be close too.

    I would think that you could get touch-up paint such as Duplicolor brand lacquer.

    If you use lacquer, test an inconspicuous area to make sure that the IH paint is compatible, and not enamel. If the paint is not compatible, the result will look quite ugly.

    Hi Folks;
    Our mills are painted in enamel. BrendaEM is correct about checking to see if lacquer will lift the original paint. Without a sealer primer coat first it will most likely lift.
