DESCRIPTION:

To ensure accurate gauge design for tools, dies and molds, and test fixtures, inspection of production, tooling, and first articles, as well as to calibrate test fixtures and equipment used throughout the plant to ensure the integrity of parts and products being produced.

This position is two-fold in that it combines the duties of a tool and gauge inspector and a calibration technician. The incumbent is required to develop gauging systems and measuring methods and will work with Tool Room, as well as Manufacturing set-up personnel to provide critical feedback as to the accuracy of the work being performed. The incumbent oftentimes will be called upon during the fabrication of a die and mold, tool or machine set-up to verify and check the accuracy of gauging to provide for first run success. Additionally, the incumbent will perform highly complex calibrations on all Company owned test fixtures, measuring equipment and personal measuring equipment used throughout the facility. The incumbent will choose the proper test equipment that is needed for accurate calibration, and will be responsible for determining if the equipment is fit-for-use.

EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

The incumbent must be well versed in the production machinery being used throughout the plant, including the ability to program the CMM with CNC machines. This will provide the ability to measure complex parts and assist manufacturing during machine buy-off and initial set-up of CNC equipment.

As the incumbent will have contact with many levels of the company, good human relation and communication skills are required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The incumbent must have higher-level math skills; i.e., decimals, fractions, trigonometry, and statistics.

Must possess a minimum of three years experience in either tool and gauge or calibration disciplines.

Incumbent must also be able to read and interpret complex blueprints, geometric tolerance specifications, and machine pneumatic and electrical schematics, as well as read and interpret written and verbal instructions

Must have 2+ years using and programming CMMs
Incumbent must be proficient in writing skills necessary for effective report development and writing
