    Siemens Anyone?

This control looks promising and it is supposed to be a good price for the retrofit market, anyone using a machine with this control?

    Al...

Looks good..any idea of the price.... I assume it is a complete controller?...

Is it also a Post Processor as well or will it still require a PP like Mac2?...

I had heard it was around US$5,000.00 for control hardware and software, I am looking into it, I believe you would still need Cam program to convert to G code.

This would be a competitor to the higher end PC based and the big name players like Fagor and others etc.
e.g. Camsoft Professional at just under $5,000.00 for s/w + motion card $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 dpending on # axis, plus i/o card plus i/o interface.
Acroloop MotionMax $5,000.00 plus motion card $2,000.00 c/w built in PLC and i/o.
The siemens also has a stepper motor version.
These systems are aimed at the high speed machining market or large machine retro-fit market and not intended to compete with the PC software based style CNC that uses the printer port syle of control.

    haha

I work for Siemens, a different division though. I should be able to get a discount on one of those puppies. Gotta wait until after Thanksgiving to find out though.

I have worked on some Hurco VMC's that use Siemens CNC's. The operators say it is a easy to use control.
