    Sherline Mach3

    Hi All

Sorry ive not been around for a wile work stops play and all that?
Well ive just dusted of the cnc and seem to have a bit of time to try and sort it out.

Ok heres the problem my machine is a imperial my programs are in metric i would like to know if it is posible to make mach3 run my sherline as metric.

Is any one out there doing this allready, if so would it be possible to post the file that mach3 needs with some info on how it works so i may be able to get my head round it.

THanks All Hope your having fun.

I believe that info is in the Mach 3 setup/install manual, section 5.4

G21 at the start of your code tells the control the subsequent units are in mm. That's all that's needed in EMC2, I don't know if it's the same in Mach.

    Hi Heinz,

I believe the same can be done with Mach 3 but I thought he wanted to set Mach 3 up permanently in MM's for his motor tuning and such-

Under Config, Select Native Units, this will change the units used for your motor tuning.
As has been said, G21 will tell mach the gcode is metric.

    HI All

Thanks for the info, OK so if i get this right i should be able to run the imperial version of mach3 and just put G21 at the start of the g code and all should be fine?

i did manage to set the metric so it was a little bit closer to what i whanted but i dont think its 100% yet.

    Hi All

Can anyone tell me if there is a chart that i can print out to give me a clue on what speed and depth of cut to use on my sherline or any other cnc system.
And also is there any one out there using a shirline for a wile that can give me some tips of what to keep an eye on before it brakes down.

I have several more printable charts on my Shop Info page.
Also a cool speed and feed calculator.
