Thanks for trying but that link just leads me to a blank page. When is it coming out? I was about to buy Alibre along with a new Tormach but now I am wondering if I should wait for the update. What do you think?

Depending on your internet connection it might take a little time to load.
Get it now and get the Maintenance. When V12 is released you will get it.
V12 is still in the works. There is no release date as of yet.

Alibre has also changed their website. It looks a lot better than it did.

I'm pretty sure that maintenance for the 1st year is included with Alibre. You might want to check on that before you plunk down $300 or so for a year of maintenance that you won't need until this time in 2010.

It would be a good idea to make sure the maintenance is in the first years contract.

Thanks guys. I had already sent in payment when the suggestion was made to check and see if it was already included. However there was an issue with the payment. Apparently they use two different quotation numbers and if you try to direct pay and use the wrong one the money goes to pay the wrong thing. So this gives me a chance to check whether or not I need it and adjust my order accordingly. I'm sure we will get everything straightened out tomorrow.

Well I called Alibre up and maintenance is not included with the original purchase price. I decided to go to Alibre directly as well as they gave me a better price than I could get through Tormach and they let me make payments instead of having the burden of paying it all up front. That helps a lot. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yep, I asked about it on the Alibre tech support site and got the same answer. Apparently, the 1st year was included in the price when I started with Version 6, but became an added-cost feature some time later, maybe around version 10. That's pretty disappointing to me since, IMHO, it mounts to a hidden $300 price increase.

Which version did you get? If you (or anyone) have access to Vault (and use it) I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on how well that works. I've been holding off on upgrading to Version 11 since I'm not sure the Vault will work as well as the Repository.

I got the design professional and standard CAM. I agree it should be part of the purchase price. But what ya gona do? I am also not the one to go to for advise on whether or not the vault works well or not as I am a newbie and have no frame of reference. Can't wait for that to change.

It's kind of cool though I found out that Alibre's office is 10 minutes from my house. I just went there and got my software in person.

Mike I have access to the Vault but do not use it. I find that I rest easier using 16GB SanDisk Flashdrives to store my work and backups.

Right now I'm looking at getting a few 64GB drives on Costco's website. They list at $277.99 each retail and are $189.99 each at Costco. Keep these in a Fire and Water resistant safe.

No I did not meet anyone other than Andrew Brashear. He gave me a short tour and pointed over to the developer and support guys. They certainly have plenty of room to grow in those offices.

I seem to remember Andrew saying it would be released this summer. So how does it usually go with these updates. Are there more functions added? If so is it only to the highest levels of their product? Do they usually keep the interface the same or will I have to relearn stuff?

The GUI is getting a few much asked for Features while the View of the Software is going to change as well. The way it will look is pretty close to what you see in the Sneak Peak Video.

As far as I know the software will remain functionally the same.

V12 this summer??? I will have to call Max about this because it is news to me. I didn't think it would be so soon and the votes for features are still being put in, unless that is closed now.
