Hello guys,
i was wondering it large industrial foundries have uses for metal turnings, and chips left over from lathe and mill work.
If so what is it? does it have a specific use, or something that only the turnings bring to the process? or is it used only to fill the empty spaces inside the chamber?

Now, talking about the turnings, would a foundry benefit from compacting these turnings into small brick size cubes? are these bricks payed better than loose metal turnings?

Hope you can give me some insight or point me in the right direction.

Metal recyclers do take chips and turnings but pay much less per ton than for solid pieces of metal.

Some metal recyclers like to have the chips already compacted but some want loose chips.

If your metal recycler will take the chips already compacted and you have a large machine shop using coolant you can reclaim the coolant that gets carried out with the chips and save some money.

You need a big machine shop to make it worthwhile because even the smallest chip compactors handle hundreds of kg per hour.

nice info, i missed that machine.

It is interesting how their sales pitch vs hydraulic machines, is that they use less HPs for the same throughput, although ive checked some hydraulic ones, and its almost the same.

Ill keep looking at it. For what i have found, metal chips need to be small and freeflowing, so shredding is needed before putting the chips in this machines.
