Catia V4 to .dxf via Mastercam Problem

    Hi guys,

I work with machines that can take 2Ds .dxf files. (Acurite MillPwr and Mazak via camlink)
It works very well. I give them .dxf of contours and points so I don't have to programm everything.

Problem is a client sending models in Catia V4 (.model)
I have hard times trying to convert the .model files to 2D contours then to .dxf

    I have Catia V5, Mastercam 9 and Autocad 2004.

I open the V4 models in Catia V5 but can't edit, not even save in any format!

So I copy the part and paste it in a fresh V5 .catpart window.
From there, I still can't edit but I can save it in .igs format.

Then open it in mastercam (that have a .dxf converter) but I can't edit anything once in mastercam.
I can't even select the part and when I save it in .dxf, Autocad doen't show it in the screen.

What a hell, I just want to convert the .model in .igs or .dxf or .dwg that I can edit/put in 2d wireframe.

    Any idea ?

Note that I can open the .igs in catia and erase faces but it's still not a wireframe.
Maybe I just have problems converting to wireframe

    Thanks in advance

Why not just import the Catia file directly into MasterCam?
It's just a part..... cutter still goes round and round....

Bring the IGES into Mastercam and Create - Curves - All Edges - All - Surfaces.

Then you'll actually have wireframe for 2D machining.

You might also want to run the CHook Squash to flatten the 3D wireframe into 2D wireframe.

Just converting the Cad format doesn't change the Entity type (Surfaces are different than Lines and Arcs)
