Hi guys!
Need a bit of input from the gurus. I have a piece of soft H13 3.5x3.0x1.5 that I need to pocket into. I'm using a 4 flute 5/16 TiAN carbide end mill with a .8125 flute length and programming in X7 (Dynamic Area Mill). Now I'm doing a DOC of .230 as suggested by the Milling Advisor program.
I have seen videos where they bury a tool to its full depth and do high speed milling in pockets. Is MasterCAM capable of doing the same to a depth of .800?
The part has tight radii in the corners so the 5/16 endmill is what I chose (best fit). I know I could do a tool change starting with 1/2 or so but opted not to for no realistic reason.
Milling Advisor suggests the following:
SFM 95
RPM 1159
IPT .0007
IPM 3.35
Stepover 40% or .125
DOC .234 or 75% dia.
Entry angle 1* RPM 1159 and IPM 6.70
