I'm wondering the best way to choose what nozzle and amperage to use when cutting steel. I run a powermax 125, the book says I can cut 3/8 plate with a 65a nozzle or a 125a nozzle. Which would be better and why?

The best cut quality with any plasma cutter is when you use the lowest amperage consumables that the listed cut charts say will cut the material. The 65 amp process will produce a squarer edge, better definition on holes and fine features because it operates at slower speeds. If you are looking for best productivity, then use the 125 amp process....very fast, but not quite as accurate and a little more edge taper.
