I like it that you will have water in the shop, but wouldnt it save a lot of pipe if you just decided where the sink will be ahead of time?

Radiant heat in a shop. That is awesome. Makes me remember one dream garage that was almost mine, if only they had accepted my offer.

Easy to do. If your furnace for your house, is in your garage simply cut a small circular hole in the heat box and plumb your garage for heat with vents. Close the vents when not in use. My garage is insulated, so i always leave the vents open and it keeps in 70F when its 32 degrees out. Cost about $50 bucks for the modification stuff from home depot.

Clamping rack, for doors, panels, etc, and a friggin awesome looking one too! I'd love a great one like that in my shed!

And he could push it outside to dry fish inbetween!

    Arrr, that makes sense then.....

Using a bunch of pipe clamps is always really fiddly to maintain square. There's always a better way to do something.

    Hi...

We live south of the city on rural property.

The 7.1 in September 2010 is what did the damage to our place, but it's nothing compared to some places in the eastern suburbs and CBD. It's just annoying putting things on hold for over a year now waiting to find out the who what when of repairs, or not.

I work about 7k's from the epicenter of the two most destructive aftershocks (Feb 22nd and June 13th) and all I can really say is that earthquakes are not fun and I will never work or live in a masonry building.

    Anyway, where's your Workshop photos?

    KiwiChris

Took a while but here is my little garage, nothing like the big boy's garage but it's home. I've got a universal mill in there too.
My sons and I have done a lot of building in my shop over the years, machines, lathe and mill work, restoring my classic car, rebuilding my motorcyles, making 2 axis cnc turning machines etc.
My boys learned to machine and weld at a young age at home. We used to have much bigger equipment but that went into my sons machine shop business so now I have small lathe and mill to tinker on in my retirement.

    Cheers

Nice tidy looking shed you've got there.

I scored some metal kitchen drawer sides so I'm in the process of making up some cabinets to get my mess more in order.

I'll take a 'panorama' photo of the 'before' tonight so we can see how it goes.

    Cheers, Me.

Wow, you were right in the center of the earthquake.
I was in Auckland at the time at the airport leaving to come back home to Canada.

I will get a shot of my workshop shortly.

    Cheers
    John

On the big chilean earthquake of last year my workshop seemed to hold fine even when it's really old (to the point you'll think I could fall apart without an earthquake). The controller PC fell from it's table but the machine didn't move. At home a few things suffered ugly falls but somehow all of them survived (included an lcd screen which split an oregon pine board on its way down). But, a couple of months later, seconds after I arrived, a ceiling shelf decided it couldn't take any more and broke, dropping a lot of stuff directly on top of an old unused machine build, and just a few feet from my head! It was a close call.

Still, regarding the earthquake itself I was quite lucky compared to some people :

    Indeed.

It's hard to explain but feeling lucky about describes it but it's a weird empty lucky feeling.
