I'm using cutter compensation in control, so that my code outputs G41/G42. The way I've seen it work on controls is that the length offset and diameter offset are equal to the tool number. So if tool number = 2, the H = 2 and D=2
To me this makes sense since you have to correlate in on your machine when you set up your tool #2.
Now why would you want to add to the offset number for the length and diameter. i.e. I read somewhere on the net that on a fanuc ,If you are using tool#2 the length offset = 2, but the diameter offset = 22, so in Mastercam you add "20" to the diameter offset.. My question what is the purpose of entering 22 and not 2 ( from the tool number) ? Is it because the fanuc control does not have many offsets, i.e. the first 20 offsets are for the 20 tools in the carousel and therefore they are only for the length offsets, and therefore a new "page" is needed for diameter offsets ?
Hope I'm making sense?
