Maybe I didn't notice it over the winter but my air-cooled Perske 2.2kw spindle is getting quite warm. I am running it at 18,000 rpm and the fan atop the spindle is moving a good amount of air with no obstructions. The temp gun is reading 135*F when pointed at the main case of the spindle.

It is 95*F here in Burlington, NC. Is this normal? Are the bearings possibly going bad? I don't hear any grinding noises but the heat concerns me.


I don't want to burn up the spindle because I just called and got a repair and/or replace quote from Perske and I wanted to fall over.
