    C = 80,000 * I / V

    Where:

    C is the required capacitance, in uF
    I is the power supply rated output current
    V is the power supply output voltage

    Those are Rifa PEH200 250VDC, shouldn't be too vintage. No idea where that ebay link came from, it says "Link added by VigLink". Nice feature. :tired:

    Drivers can handle up to 50% ripple, but 10-20% is recommended.

    Not sure about your "80000", but I used equation: C = I(load) * T / U(ripple) where T in cycle time (50Hz = 0.01s)

    With 1130W peak it would be 10A so with 15% ripple:
    C = 10A*0.01s/(113V*0.15) = 0.005899.. F = ~5900uF so 6800uF should be enough.

    With your equation I get:
    C = 80000*10/113 = 7079.646... uF =~7100uF

    So I think those will have enough juice..

    Some progress with belt drive. Still needs at least some kind of axle, bearing "holders" and motor stands..

    Nice job on the pulleys. WHat type of belt is that? Those are pretty big grooves.

    Thanks, though my friend turned those almost entirely, I did some roughing..

    That is Gates Polyflex JB, only one that I found which can handle high speeds and 3HP with my height restriction (and was cheap enough)..

    Some update, none is fully ready though. Again a little more work than I assumed, but it's getting there. Clearance / interface fits are a bit PITA without proper measuring tools..

    There is a M40x1.5 thread in the axle, that came out really nice and snug, hopefully we won't mess that part when turning the other end.

    Well, that should be quite ready now, "only" needs that spline bushing, if it fits..

    Bearings and pulley installed, seems to be ok.. Bearings repacked with Klüber.

    Other side, still "needs" a snap ring:

    Wow, April 1 passed by again, no fooling around this time..

    Motor is almost mounted.. Little issues with some dimensions, but hopefully it's ok now.

    Sure.

    That handle is a little too beefy, but well, it doesn't weight that much..

    Still need to replace that wrench with something else.. But maybe later. I think it needs some electricity next..

    Did some wiring today, servo power should be ready now, with a new front panel and a power switch:

    And the VFD is working too, doesn't sound that nice though...

    Still missing a key from the motor axle, so didn't feel like spinning the spindle yet.. And spindle bearings are a little loose..

    For your VFD - look in the manual and see if you can change the "carrier" frequency. On many you can and you might be able to pick a different frequency that won't make as much noise....
    But the fan on it is loud too - that might need to be fixed before too long.

    Looking good - keep at it.
