I cant remember if anyone has said anything about the buttkicker gamer unit yet in this thread ( http://www.thebuttkicker.com/ ). But I think it would be pretty cool if someone could install one in a racing simulator like this. I have the computer chair version (http://www.thebuttkicker.com/ButtKic...amer_home.html ) installed on my desk chair. I think its alsome. It picks up those really suddtle noises and lets you feel them. Like slideing through the grass at nearly 200mph in Nascar Racing 2003. I never really paid attention to the sound of it before. But the way my seat shakes as I do it now makes me feel almost as if I'm really inside the car. It works well on flying sims as well.

Hi Joe, if you can give me the dxf file, and number the parts, with material specs, I am sure we can make them for you and all other friends out there.

Hey Granville, Have you shelved the project?
I notice that the arms dont slide down as far as they should.
Maybe the leg area should be thinner and a spacer put in the bolt area.
We are looking forward to photos.
What goes around comes around, I'mback onto this project after many years of it been shelved. Hey Granville, did you ever finish you prototype?
Being outside the square !!!
I have just started thinking of making one myself. I really want to go the x-sim route and build something with 4 dof. I will be ordering an arduino board to start playing with motion and getting used to how it all works. It seems that there is more to getting one of these to work than my first cnc router. But, I suspect just like the router, once you get into it and become more familiar with the software it ain't that tough. Just something new to learn. It looks like the next couple of weeks I will be busy with work, but hopefully I will be able to put some time into one of these and get it built so I have something to play with during the long Minnesota winter.
Did anyone ever make one of these?
Revive of this old thread, I am going to make one of these for a mate of mine, but will be adding my own alterations to it as well
Hopefully I will be cutting out the parts this weekend, as long as the rain stops so I can get the sheet of mdf home!
Ha, I cant believe someone has revived this thread.
Good luck buddy, I'll be interested in how you go. Triple check everything before you cut.
Please post a pic of the result even if it goes haywire.
Oddly enough I'm still interested to see a finished result even after so many years.
Being outside the square !!!
I too would like to see one finished!
cheers,
Ian
It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!
So this past weekend I cut out a 1/4 scale model for fun and to make sure everything fits together, I still have to cut out the bits that will make the small bulkheads to make the 2 halves fit together.
I also did some small modifications to the cut outs as well.
Awesome!
Now GI Joe can finally play his racing games in style.

Looks good!!!
From memory, I was thinking that the steering wheel platform was to pivit forward, to enable easier in and out.
I'm not sure what you should do for spacers that join the bottom and top section.
Ha yes, a GI Joe mobile. Good one !!
EDIT: If you look back at the picture in the first post, they have a air foiler at the back. I think that goes a long way to giving the car a sporty appearance.
Maybe that needs to be added to the cutting file?
