Hi
does anyone know where i can get my hands on an air operated 3 or 4" three jaw chuck for a boxford or similar lathe, or plans for making one.
thank you

I too would like to know.
I assume you are looking for a power chuck with the air drawbar??
I have a couple of older LOGAN power chucks here..
not sure what size you are looking for, both are three jaw style..
also have a few collet chucks, agaijn power style..
Located Sask, Canada, if you are close, you can stop by and look at them..
I'm actually more interested in plans for one (just want to build one for s@#$% and giggles).
there's not actually too much inside those critters...a person could probably build a rough one fairly easily, just mechanical leverage and linkage mostly..
I have been searching for someone who has made an air chuck conversion for a Boxford 250 CNC lathe but i cannot find anyone who has done the conversion. I presume the air chuck solenoids will have to be linked into the spindle motor wiring somehow to stop the chuck opening when the spindle is rotating. I have asked Boxford for a wiring diagram but they said that they do not have one. I think that it would be easier with the mach 3 software but i am running the Boxford software at the moment. There will be a signal coming off the main board when a M40 code "opens chuck" and a M39 code which closes the chuck so it is just a case of using the correct pins for the outputs so as the software opens and closes the chuck. I have found which pins on the front control panel buttons operate the chuck. so all it needs is a bit of wiring and some relays.
