    Okuma OSP5020L DNC problem

My shop has an older Okuma LNC-8 CNC lathe. currently we are having to input programs from the control letter by letter. the machine has the ability of using RS232 for DNC, but i am having trouble getting it to work. I have the Okuma DNC setup page and have the cables with the proper pinout and the settings on my computer and the machine are set to the specified settings, but i cannot get data to transfer to the machine from my computer and when i get data from the machine back to my computer it comes back all garbled. any time i try to send data to the machine i either get the following errors.

2505 tape parity ERROR 4F or 2505 tape parit ERROR 25. i don't know what those error codes mean. i have the error code book for the lather but it doesn't tell me what the 4F or 25 part of the error means. any thoughts?

1st off, you don't have DNC. Only one LNC8 I know of has that $$$$option. What you are trying to do is RS232.

This error is usually because of EIA/ISO problem, data length (7 or 8) stop bit (1 or 2) and parity (even/odd). First thing you need to get working is machine to PC. Try switching the EIA/ISO config on you PC first, and see if you start getting data that looks right, even if it's not numbering correctly.

i'm relatively new to using CNC machines so i'm trying to learn quickly so if i mess up terminology i'm sorry. I have tried punching data from the machine to my computer using all of those options, and i either get garbled data, or all capital A's with 2 dots over them in place of all the data.

Ill try to find a manual around here, need you to look up a couple parameters to see how the control is set up.

    RS232

Hi, I´m newbie working with Okuma. Do you have a manual where I could see how to setup the machine in order to make the serial communication? The control is OSP-E100M. I usually work with fanuc controls.
    Thanks
