Stepper motor controller like L297 but with smaller microstepps

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what to use to get stronger driver than TB6560 and not spend 150$ per 1 driver.
All the IC that I found so far are rated at voltage <50V and current <4A.
Then I found L297 which does all the logic work and can be easily matched with any dual full bridge driver; but it has only half steps and no other futures.

Do you know any controller like L297 that would offer at least 1/4 micro-stepping and maybe current decay and some other futures.

I did some more research today and i found Allegro A4989. I think that's what i was looking for but just for comparison - is there anything else?

    Regards
    Bart

A much simpler alternative would be a thb6064 or tb6600 based design.
