Calibration and accuracy testing of a Viper X

I will be shooting a series of videos showing how to calibrate and demonstrate the accuracy of a Viper X CNC Router.

The initial testing will make use of MACH 3 and its axis calibration feature. I have also included some photos of the stepper driver I am using and its settings.

The first test is with .1" of travel.

The second test is with 10 inches of travel.

Aluminum cutting and MACH 3 probe

Doing some work with the Viper, this time I am expanding the size of some holes in a mounting plate for my predator. Made use of the touch probe feature in MACH3 to center the cutter and set the Z axis depth to be the bottom of the hole.

No, just expanding existing holes to fit an M8 bolt head.

To M8? don't think they will fit, you would have to put bolts in plate before putting spindle on plate

    2.5D Capability

I wanted to show the accuracy and 2.5D capability of the Viper in this post. In the link below I came across a cool 2.5D part that was being cut on a Mill so I asked the owner (UniqueMachining) if he would share it with me which he did. Thanks again John!

The part was cut in 20 minutes and the feeds were setup up for aluminum so I could have cut it in less the half the time. There were 3 tools changes but I cut the part with a single tool which was a 1/4" ball nose. The rounded part of the cut was super smooth and so was the rest of the piece.

the mass of the vise is going to help alot. with the part just clamped to the table, its would probably have more vibration. more weight = more better
