    screen display readout

Our Machining centre is a mori-seiki mv45 with 0-m control, when we set our machines up, say we are at 50mm above the job datum Z50.0, the displays reads from the home position and will be something like Z-450.0, is there a parameter which we can change so it reads Z50.0, this is annoying and hard to figure where the tool actually is. can anybody please help?

According to the 0M-C Parameter Manual, parameter 0018 bit 5 controls whether the tool length compensation amount is considered in the Absolute Position display. If it's 1, try changing it to 0 (or vice-versa) and see if that fixes it.
