i have made a stainless way covers for the main column based on a video I have seen on the net some time ago , sorry I don't remember who was the author but it went something like this , you'll get it from the pictures.

first I have made solidworks model to verify if it is going to work and what would be the right dimensions and will anything interfere whit the motion of the mill especially in the extremes of the axis.

ok I know it is not a rocket science but I am happy whit the way it turned out. It looks simple but it took me a bit of planing an calculating to get every thing right and get it functional.

ok this was plasma cutted and it is 0.6 mm stainless and that didnt go smoth , THC was creating a problem on that thin sheet. It would been better if I had a ticker sheet on hand, 0.6 is a bit thin so the covers warp a bit and don't stay flush.

i don't know if it is clear from this picture but this part took some planing , this is my solution for attaching the cover to a saddle and getting a perfect seal so the coolant wouldn't spill on the z axis ballscrew and the motor.

and the back , I had to add two springs so the covers would stick better together .
