Did you settle on a new machine?
Nope, some things came up and I need to hold on to the money for now. I'm almost thinking a good lathe cam would produce more money than a second mill. So far no luck on finding good CAM that is affordable. Rhino Turn didn't work out and I got a refund.
If you really need a nice simple lathe cam, check out Dolphin CAD/CAM. Their lathe software is fantastic.

Dolphin didn't look very good when I last looked at it a year ago. Do you use it daily? Have any YouTube videos of it?
Power in my town is $0.13 per KWH, which is about double of the national average I believe. Because a machine says 30hp, doesn't mean it uses all 22,000+ watts...
Have you looked at SprutCAM for turning ops? I've been playing with that a bit while waiting to buy a CNC lathe and once you get past the usual frustrations SprutCAM seems to foist on the user it seems to be pretty capable. I've virtually no experience with other CAM software, though, so it might not be near as capable as other programs. Tough to beat the price, though, unless you need to run a multi-machine shop full time where higher cost competitors might make more economic sense.

I use Dolphin for the little I do on the lathe. Works pretty good. Rudimentary GUI, but serviceable.

And my power bill is extreme this time of year and a reason for the silly comment mostly because of the cost to cool home and shop
Also that machine is not going to work well in a barn! imho you need a fully climate controlled room or building to best results anyway !

servos of 700 watts each = 2100 watts per hour
controller and electronics, drivers....... say 400 watts
total of 5500 watts per hour div by kw = 5.5 kw an hour x 0.13 = 0.71 per hour of power
and don't forget poor people that pay demand power!
declare war on more coal power plants and we will be paying even more imho
another thing even my tormach adds an easy 1000 watts of heat to my shop per hour. and a.c has to pump out . along with lights and other things it adds up.

I'm not sure about that exact model, but modern Brother drill and tap centers regenerate power while decelerating - uses less power and creates less heat too.
Thats the new Speedio model that does that. The S2D at my work does not do that. Mmmm Speedio.....

SprutCAM does come with a post editor so you can create your own, possibly based on an existing post to save time. I think that Sprut will customize one for you, but don't know what they charge, if anything. Dave in the UK at the second link may also provide that service and would probably be a lot easier to communicate with as would Eric at SprutCAMAmerica.

HSMworks does include a generic Fagor post, though its designed as a milling post and would likely need modified to work.
