Is there a chart for motor sizes depending on the table?

Hello all, very new to the hobby and planning to make one. Been reading and it seems the motor should match the table size. Is there a chart for which motor is best matched for a given table size?
I do wish to make a 4'x8' one using the ox design incorporating belt driven nema 23's, should I reduce the size of the table and what would be an ideal size for it?

Actually, the table size really has very little to do with motor size.

The proper way to size your steppers is to choose target velocity and acceleration rates, and calculate the motor requirements to achieve those, using the mass of components, and the gearings you'll have with your chosen drive system.

Having said that, It seems like 99% of new builders have no idea how fast they want their machine to move, and just use what everyone else uses.

The OX is a pretty lightweight machine, so it doesn't need a lot of power. I'm not familiar with what most users typically use for those machines, but I would guess something in the 270oz range? PErsonally, I'd recommend a G540 package with 380oz motors. Due to the direct belt drive, the motors won't be spinning very fast, and more torque would be a better option, imo.

Thank you for your insight Gerry. Yes you are correct that I do not know the speed that I would want or need yet. The ox only needs 175oz-in motors. I do like the simplicity of the build but do not really know the advantage or disadvantage of using belt driven machine against the screw driven ones. In fact I do not know much regarding my incoming build. One thing. I know is that I like the "platform cnc" by Grunblau.
I am eyeing now to get the G540 plus steppers from gecko as well rated 280oz-in. Can you point me to the kit you are referring to?

Go check out the CNCRouterparts kits. I've got the NEMA 23 320oz kit, it'll damn near move a Mac truck, and it hauls ass. Very surprising for such small motors.

automation technologies has the 380oz kits. I'm not sure if that machine can handle the extra weight, or power, though.

I could add, if you build a heavier gantry, then I think a nema 34 necessary already..

Thanks guys, I appreciate your replies...
I am at a state of confusion now. Should I build one to make a nice one or should I just buy a good one? Leaning towards the "Grunblau" build....
Should I stay or should I go?

    this machine 4 full sheet
geardriven I think it makes the 800 ipm
cost 6400 plus about 1800 the import fees

another is ballscrewdriven, slower and weaker little, but very precise.. it makes 300 ipm
it cost 4600 plus the 1800 import fees

you cant make these of their price..
