    Uprights too flimsy.
Is your gantry just a plate? If so, will be flimsy.

Looks real good, as the other user stated I would do something on the side gantry. Maybe just thicken it up and move on.

Ever thought about buying a cheapo 6090 or similar from china and upfiting your servos or just a gecko g540 and nice steppers?

I looked hard at that. Cost was $4500 to my door with 2.2kw spindle and Delta servo drives.

Just curious, whats driving you to use servos on such a small machine? The gecko 540 is a heck of a deal with some steppers from cnc router Nema 23 CNC Electronics | CNCRouterParts

just seems if you're doing a lot of aluminum just buy a used mill off craigs.

I am looking to do some aluminum molds and was looking for high speed with small end mills.

DMM had the 400 watt servos with drive and all cables for $800 for 3 axis. Seems like a great deal for true AC servo.

Perfect fit for a machine like this, 14 Bit or the new 16 Bit Encoders

I think your right. I added some spacers and an outer plate to improve rigidity.

It won't be enough if your goal is mold making in aluminum. Both the gantry side plates and the gantry beam itself will need to be beefed up.

Also for small machines it is reasonable to consider a fixed gantry moving table design. Going this route can result in a stiffer machine that is easier to keep in alignment for a given cost and effort.
