I just bought an Emco Compact 5. I'd like to try Mike's Free Interface, but www.mikesfreeinterface.com is now a German language site, with (as far as I can read German) nothing to do with CNC's whatsoever. Will someone please send me a link to download it?
Also, what do I need to know about attaching a PC to this lathe? It can't be as simple as connecting a cable to the port in back, can it?

Hi,

The best resource I have found for this lathe is the Yahoo user group Emco_cnc_users. The interface can be downloaded from that group, as well as how to connect the RS232, and a bunch moore details.
I've had my Compact 5 cnc for a few months but am just getting around to using it as I bought it while moving houses!

If you only want to save and load programs on a computer you need the grafics card which have a serial interface included.
The only other thing you need is an adapter cable from the machine to your computer.
A file transfer program should be included in your OS.
