Hi all - new to CNC and need a little help with my home-made build.

    Hi all.

I've always loved CNC machines - ever since I started work for a manufacturing plant all those years ago.
A while ago, I stumbled across an 'Instructable' of someone building their own CNC routing machine. Now I have a bit more time on my hands I decided to give it a go myself.
I bought a TB6560 and 3 stepper motors (Nema 23s), and waited the 3 months for it all to arrive and plugged it all in.
    So far, I have this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFy8N1acqB8

Only one axis is working - the Y axis, as far as I can tell.

After a bit of googling, I read horror stories about the TB6560 - however, this doesn't seem to fit the same symptoms as those stories.
For example, the LEDs on the board don't light up when running the example in LinuxCNC (the default one that says 'LINUX CNC' - only the Y-axis is lighting up (they do all work, as when it is first turned on, all three briefly flash).

I have wired all three of the motors in the Y output to test that the motors all work - they do, that that's not the issue.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

PS. Apologies if this is not in the right place, I couldn't see a sub-forum that was more obvious.

have you got the pin set correctly also if you turn those boards on with nothing connected they can blow up

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I have downloaded the config files from here: LinuxCNC Documentation Wiki: TB6560

...and now all three LEDs light up, and the motors make all the right noises (I can touch them and feel the vibration when they are supposed to be running), but they no longer spin...it's like they need the clutch to be let up!

I haven't powered the board without it being connected but I don't know how to change the pin setup,

Hi. I finally worked it out - I have all three axis working fine! :-)

The problem I have now is that I can control the Z and the Y axis manually using LinuxCNC, but not the X axis.

Also, none of them seem to 'home' properly.
