If you're going with Hitachi mounts like me, (maybe the same for the Porter Cable or Makita, not sure) maybe the option gets priced with an extension plate. In my case (old z plate), if I mount the Z plate correctly, I need 3 inches of extension below where I am now. If I invert the Z plate, I need two inches more.
One advantage of using an adapter plate like this might be the ability to pre-mount the router clamps on the adapter, square them up, then mount the adapter plate to the Z plate from the front like the Techno spindle. Would be easier and more adjustable than today. I don't know how expensive it would be to produce a plate that could both front mount and hold the router clamps like this. Could you let me know either here or vial email?
