Harbor Freight X2 solid model / Mill

    Hello ,
I'm looking for a solid model of the Harbor Freight Mini Mill 44991 / Sieg X2.
My plan is to model up a conversion (CNC) with steppers and all associated hardware.
Then use the mill to machine all the parts manually. Once complete with model and the conversion
I will have all of what I need to run a hardware simulation using Siemens NX9.0 Cad/Cam
The simulation is just for fun and it looks cool with actual machine kinematics with 3d material
    removal and highlighted tool paths.
Newbie here to the bench top machining venue so any advise on the electronics would be helpful.
Nema 23 or Nema 24 , I'm also considering a 4-axis for some rotary task later in the conversion,
    Thank you in advance.

    ddefocy,

I realize your post is nearly a year old but I thought I would reply anyway. I ran across your post in my search for a CAD model of the Harbor Freight Mini Mill. I found a model on GrabCad https://grabcad.com/library/harbor-freight-mini-mill-2 However, I cannot comment on the dimensional accuracy.

Did you find a CAD model to use?

I am also in the process of converting my mini mill to CNC. I am using an Arduino & grblShield for motion control and Universal Gcode Sender on a netbook. I like the USB connectivity of the grblShield. My stepper motors are 425 oz-in NEMA 23 from Automation Technologies High-Torque Stepper Motor, Stepper Motor, Driver, Stepper Motor kit, DC Servo Motor, DC Servo Motor kit, Stepper Motor Power Supply, CNC Router, Spindle, and other Components. Stepper Motor | Stepper Motor Driver | CNC Router | Laser Machine | 3D Prin

Best of luck with your build,
    Tim
