    zero-ing my cnc

    Hello Everyone
I am at a stand point with my newly built cnc machine. I am a chef by trade and i do ice carvings. The request for corporate logos ar becoming a hugh demand. But by hand its becoming a high pain in the ....... So i did a research on doing a pantograh that lead me to building a cnc. after 2 years of research and building it up and running. i am using long motors nema 34 with it full kit design breaker board, power supplies etc.. My table is or my cutting table will have x axe 44 inch of travel and my y axe will have 24 inch travel and my z axe will have 12 inch travel up and down. Its is all built out of aluminium and stainless steel and wired with sub zero wiring because it will be installed in the freezer running at -5. so all wiring has to be flexible.
I have mach 3 software up and running. i have been watching videos for the las two weeks, printing all the info i can find on motor tuning limit switches. With always the same end result.
I have set the motor for correct pins. they are running. All axes have been tested for correct distance they are moving with precisioni have 3 limit switches set up on the ned of each axe that are connect together on a always closed. they are working when i click one of them they are light up corectly in the diagnostic page.
My home switch are wired individualy to there own pin. I did the auto test for pin numbers and they are all testing correct. i click them and they light up correctly in the diagnostic mage.
So when i jog and hit either limit or home they stop the machine. So to this point my motors are traveling the correct distance in mm on all axes.
So i am at the reference all stage. to zero my axes.
When i ask reference all its starts by the z axes for some reason travels up like it should and then hits the homes switch but does not stop i have to hit esc or reset to stop it before damage arrives. but when i jog maually the home switches are trigered and the machine stops fine.
where should i start looking or what step should i do to zero my axes

Are you using a parallel port, or motion controller?
Which version of Mach3? If you're using the latest version, 3.043.066, then go back to 3.043.062 and see if it helps.

    Re: zero-ing my cnc

Sometimes it's best to try and setup one axis at a time, it could be one or more axis's are conflicting with the Z,

Normally we use only one input pin for homing all axis's the switches should be all for Normally Closed (NC) position
, you should also use a small home off amount to make sure the switch is returned back to NC after the homing

As I said earlier, try changing to version 3.043.062 and see if it helps.
