Feel free to use standard threaded rod for it. Get back to us when you realize that a leadscrew has certain quality standards that end up costing money.
We're talking about a Sherline. It's just threaded rod.
The normal-travel (12"?) leadscrew is $19.
50171 - Leadscrew, CNC, X-axis (inch) $19
The Y axis Leadscrew is the same.
56160 - 2000 Mill Leadscrew, Y-axis (inch) $19
There is also this
67026 - Leadscrew, CNC, 24" (inch) $31.50
The 18" leadscrew for the extended bed, FORTY-TWO DOLLARS!!!.
What's up with that?
In there defense "Roton" the manufacture of 1/4-20 leadscrew charges $18.00 per foot ($27.00 for 18" plus shipping) so forty two dollars is not that much of a markup.

Jeff...
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
So just order the stock from Roton, and take it to your local machine shop so they can turn it down on the end and drill it. I'm sure you'll save a ton of money...
More like lunar very short tons.
Actually - the Sherline threaded rod is also hardened... So its not just a simple piece of all-thread. However, I really think the area that needs improvement is the nut. It is pathetically undersized.. and they reailly need something like a nut 1" long with some better anti-backlash features. (like a dumpstercnc anti-backlash nut or something)

CNC Is Not Just My Passion.. It's My Addiction !!!!
We retrofitted a few of these sherline mills for 3D printing to 1/4- 4 start, with dumpstercnc couplings, made a huge difference with speed and accuracy,
Here's some info,,,,,,,,, Sherline Mill
Now that I look back, I think the original screws were Left hand, so this could be why they cost more?

The mills have much more room than the lathes.
A lazy man does it twice.
