I've run acrylic for 20 years, those numbers work well enough for me and my customers with my particular machine.

And I usually did 22k rpm and 70 to 100ipm on my last machine, usually 20k and 150ipm on my new one. I'll only ever have melt if it's a smaller diameter bit or a dull bit. But we're cutting plastics all the time basically, no wood or aluminum without knowing it will greatly reduce bit life (ie we'll likely never use that bit on acrylic again).
