STL Wing Mold Tool Path Help

    Hello

I'm new to tool path and ill be needing help to mill a wing mold.
I'm using Devwing Mold to design then export a STL file to MasterCam to produce G Code file.

I have MasterCam x9 to do tool paths but I'm not sure what did i do wrong or i missed, I keep on getting errors.
First of all I need Surface Roughing then Surface Finishing then drilling holes right?? But how do i do that?

If someone can help me guiding me where to start it will be great
The rar file Is included in the attachments.

    thank you

Don't use an STL file, get your CAD to export a STP (step) or an IGES (parasolid)) file

An STL file is just a mesh of triangles, that has a "skin" overlay to represent a surface, depending on your export/import settings the actual shape can be altered ( a sphere could end up looking like a polygon )

Then have a go at putting paths onto it

Can't machine against STL, you need another format <iges, x_t parasolid, or step<stp> you can use STL for stock body definition but not to drive tool path.

you are starting out running if you are not familiar with CAM, but lots of resources here.

I'm not familiar with CAM, I tried to use soildworks to convert to STP but that didn't work, I'll ask the developer of Devwing Mold about Exporting STP as it seem STL is the only option I have in that application.

I've heard that FreeCad can convert to useable geometry, than you may have to do the "rebuilding of true surfaces" to get a machinable model. I've done a few wings and fuslage parts
I looked at devCAD they restrict output to .STL for a very good reason......
    Buy more devCAM software.......

Wow wow wow Did u make that fuselage mold from devfuse??

You built that robot arm? But why 7 axis? How much does that arm wow weight, 150kg?

    You mean like this ?

Yes do the freeCAD then you have real geometry to work with.

The fuselage mold was pulled from a full size master plug (which I had to machine also)
Essentially this thing lays (24 wide x 1/4) strips of composite (like shoe laces) dispenses precisely, cuts and starts. This is $$$$ aerospace from the 90's I just programmed and ran it.
