It looks like SprutCAM 11 will be released next month. Is anybody else planning on upgrading?

I will not pay for an upgrade until SC makes major improvements to the tool library.

Is it worth costing yourself 1,000 bucks down the road? Skipping a version means you'll have to pay full price to upgrade...Not to mention you'll lose support on the current version. I upgrade simply just to keep the discounted upgrade path alive, that is if your a Tormach Owner like myself.
Well I have just been battling with the tool library for the last couple of hours so the other improvements better be good.
Most of the new features they are advertising are not so important for me so hopefully they put in more behind the scenes.
Maybe I'm just learning to think more like a Russian, but each new version seems easier to use to me and most add features that I can use. Tool libraries could sure stand some improvement, though.
My dads father or my grandparents migrated here thru Galveston Texas into Kansas from what is now Belarus area. My family still runs a section size farm in Kansas to this day. My cousin makes a decent living at it. I live in a crime ridden city, that went down hill fast here in Colorado. I kind of envy their rural farm life with huge wind mill$ just a few years away from that property and people leave their keys in their trucks at the coffee shop. there are 3 cars a day stolen in a city of 120k this is as high as Detroit oh well another thing I complain about, gotta stop complaining and get out and make some shiny parts being a troll sorry!
So far no upgraders huh?
I am in about the same boat -upgrading to keep current and the jump from 9 to 10 had enough to make the cost worth it. Fingers crossed the helical operation and adaptive feedrate work as advertised and nothing else gets screwed up! I placed my order today. As far as the tool library it is nuts for sure. I've never been able to get it to behave consistently. Other than the one guy who figured out how to edit values in excel and reconvert back, I have had no luck googling for info on the topic. spruts documents are no help
I got the upgrade but have been waiting until some time-critical jobs are done before trying SC 11.
I bought into this thinking & upgraded my 9 to 10 for $360 (All Post). Now I get an email from Tormach that reads:Is it worth costing yourself 1,000 bucks down the road? Skipping a version means you'll have to pay full price to upgrade...
So for my upgrade from 10 to 11 (All Post) it’s $350. Add to this $360 for the 9 to 10 upgrade & I got $710 into it from 9 to 11 – if I do the upgrade. I’m gonna feel a little cheated if the discount price from Tormach to go from 9 to 11 is less!Tormach is proud to announce the launch of SprutCAM 11. For a limited time only, SprutCAM 8 and SprutCAM 9 users can upgrade to the newest version for a discounted price.
I installed sprut 11 today. Happy to report it loads my sprut 10 files with just a few easy to fix errors. Looks like they added a tolerance value to the drill ops data structure that was not in version 10. When you load sprut 10 files those ops dont have a valid value and need to be set. Seams like all the rest of the ops load, compile and simulate like they should and did before makes it easy to load and edit or check my 400 or so part files I have. This was very important. 4th axis parts required setting the 4th axis on the table in correct position, then they also compiled and worked just fine. Post processor code looks and compares to sprut 10 for the half dozen very complex parts I loaded and edited and compaired. Anyone waiting on a upgrading because of those issues your ok,
Thanks MD. I've been holding off on the upgrade to avoid screwing some current projects so its good to know there's not much risk.
Do you see much in the way of bug fixes or UX?
It is not seamless by any means. The normal change back to default of all user settings. You have to go in and set where it looks for files and all the other user preference settings. I had to copy all my tool libraries to the new sprut11 locations. When you load a old part files it defaults to the Sprut11 tool library that comes with it now "nice one BTW" Thanks to Jacob. Little annoying things like that that are normal because it is a fresh install. Sprut 11 installed like it had no idea you ever used it before. "I like this BTW" All my preset custom operations that I built over the years need to be saved by loading old part files and saving them again. Tried to copy them and it resulted in errors, I kind of expected this, again no big deal. just takes a little time to get everything back to normal. Maybe it can be done faster with copies of sprut10 preference files and I just dont have the experience to find all the right files to copy.
As for errors I always see sprut do strange things with tool numbers and other settings. I do the normal check to see that all things match up before compile. All the standard strange errors pop up from version to version. Example I noticed 4th axis safe surface on screen visual reference display rotated on the wrong plane. This new feature Displayed correctly in sprut 10 and now its wrong in sprut11 . Does not effect code just makes me do double take and look more careful at my safe surface movements when I check 4th axis program operations. I could write a book every time I use this program . I check all settings then ignore and move on to making parts! In short all the normal stuff works good and the few new operations they added for mill look useful. I liked the new 4th axis roughing rotary operation.

If you still have a problem and need a help, our specialist is ready to help you with the issue. As by the default the direction of the safe cylinder is Auto, and it works correctly.

No Problem. Just takes a few extra steps to change some values. The example above shows version 10 safe plane on a 4th a axis part and how it changes when loaded into version 11. Solution is to change the x plane value to 90 on the safe plane setting of x, y, z. Didn't have to do this on version 10. Not much drama on this error, easy to find and fix. Not like the chip pan collision error on the last full upgrade. That took longer because I didn't know the chip pan had anything to do with my cam settings. Also easy to fix by removing my Sprutcam chip pan on my tormach machine. Now all my cam chips go on the cam floor. Again no big deal, The chips are easy clean up after I do a part simulation. All fun
Note: I could have fixed it correctly if I had access to the machine definition module of this program! Could also edit the hidious colors selected for the default y axis of the Tormach machine definition Sprutcam does not include this with any distro that I know of anyway
Sorry found error my backup software crushed these files for some reason
Just tested it again \
found the problem in the test
