I bought Design Expert in 2011. I really liked the program. I would frequently use it in conjunction with Rhino. However, when 3DS purchased it several years ago, I saw the writing on the wall as 3DS collects companies but does not support the end user. Just ask those used to have Z Corp equipment. Not wanting to waste money on 3DS, I gave up on the program and just figured that it was a dead end. There were some nice features in the earlier editions.
Max's statement that Alibre is coming back and will not be under Abe's collection of non-supported products is welcome news. I look forward to learning how I can upgrade my license, etc. This is a big deal for many people.

Thanks very much Michael.
I went over to the forum and put my 2c in. Let's just say I don't hold 3DS in high regard, as far as honesty with the customer is concerned.
Good to hear the news.
The new Alibre web site is up and running:
www.alibre.com
and it looks like they will be supporting both Pro and Expert versions. Maintenance for the Pro version will be $300 per year and it is $400/year for the Expert version.
I got the Alibre reply, thank goodness free of 3DS.
I got my 2017 license yesterday for Alibre Expert. There is a new keyshot render as well, and Alibre/CAM ver 3 works fine so far. I'm so excited. I use Alibre & Keyshot for all my assemblies and rendering of my models. A few models I've used Fusion 360 but it's not nearly as good as Keyshot. I rendered these low resolution for my website and I've found it's better with Keyshot. I think the lighting is more realistic as well. Anyway I'm supper excited Alibre is back. I'll start making tutorial for it as well.

Yes - I love being able to break up my yearly maintenance fee into multiple payments again.
I don't use anything else for my 3D printing.
