which kind machine you use on jewelry? laser ?
Hi all,
thought I'd introduce myself....I am a teacher in NZ (Hard/resistant materials). I have been getting kids into coding, robotics etc and hope to get a laser & CNC machine into my dept in the near future so I'm scouring these forums for info to make informed decisions. I have little experience with either machine but am pretty savvy with the software involved. I've already learned a lot from various threads that I have read.
Cheers,
Neal
Hi Everyone,
I'm getting ready to start building a CNC router and I'm still in the research phase. I've mostly been a woodturner and wanted to try something new and building a CNC router looked like it would be fun.
Thanks,
Hi everyone,
Just found this site and it looks pretty amazing. I work at a shop that builds plastic injection molds. I also have a CNC mill in my garage.

Hello,
I was trying to build a prototype that can make a Bernoulli spiral using paint. I want to use servo with encoders and I want to buy a plug and run set with a coding and path generator software. Anyone has any suggestions where to start and where to buy the parts?
Thanks,
MN
New here, old time conventional machinist/tool and die maker way back in my youth, been playing with a mill and lathe in my garage for years and finally am thinking of stepping into CNC type stuff, and I am a complete virgin. Hope to get some knowledge here and look forward to being a sponge.

Hi all, I am JP and is working in the plastics Industry in South Africa.
Our equipment is from Europe and has a wide variety of makes of PLC on, ranging from ABB, Omron, siemens, GEfanuc so being on the other side of the world it is sometimes a challenge to get comms to a plc with the correct Software and cable's. PLC is nice in a develop country but I feel a bit frustrated getting all the bit's and pieces and all is coming at a price!
Hope I can share some idea's and solutions.
Great to be here!!
I guess I should have started here, Hello. Ray Nikkel from Canada. I started with a 40watt epilog 15 years ago and switched to a 100 watt chinese laser. Ive made tons of mods and upgrades to the point I prefer my chinese laser over the Epilog. I love everything about laser's, I invent and create all sorts of things. It is a hobby but also sell lots of my stuff, enough that I don't need to leave home to work.I have solved many many chinese laser issues and hope I can help others here. I recently made the smartest choice to take out all Leetro software and hardware and install RD software and hardware.
Well about me,
I've had many interesting and not-so interesting jobs over the years, but I'd say in the past 5 years I caught a glimpse of what I want to be when I grow up.
Went to school to be a certified aviation mechanic, but while attending I got a job in a machine shop as a shipping clerk. The position for the maintenance guy opened up and I got the job. The first week was like that "Turbo Encabulator" video, but after applying some of my knowledge in the basics of avionics, CNC machines began making more and more sense.
So here I am doing everything from crawling in the septic tank to replace a burned out sewer pump to sometimes successfully attempting component level board repair.
Hi all I'm from England and have been using 3D CNC since 1989, my area of work is Industrial Modelmaking/Prototypes/Film

I worked in precision engineering for over 45 years. Now almost in my eighties
Hello
I am a machining hobbyist. New to CNC, and currently building a cnc g0704 conversion.
Been a shipping/WPL Supervisor for the last 10 years. I'm a computer guy first and foremost though. Trying to use my skills in a new venture and had someone willing to take a chance on me. Looking to fill my head as quickly as possible so I can be a really useful engine.
In becoming a proficient CNC machinist you will need a good knowledge of metals hardness you will only be able to cut material with a tensile hardness higher than the material you are working on.
