For that, as soon as the computer starts up, press F12 when the DELL logo is displayed to enter the Boot Device Menu. With the down arrow key, select the line System Setup and press Enter. You can now change the the BIOS settings.

No sir, the steps is only for you to enter the BIOS, sorry to put the link that`s meant for the AHCI setting, you need to go to advanced settings to set the LPT1 port to epp mode

    something like this

I think you`re all set sir, the only one remaining culprit you had now is the profile or the XML file settings, I think I need you to try my copy of that (......) but every time I attempt to post a link on it my whole post will be deleted my our boss here, do you have a facebook account ? or any means to transfer the file to you?

I would of thought the xml file from gecko drive will be a good start

also make sure that the cable you got is a straight thru cable. Pin 1 on one side should go to pin 1 on the other and the same for all other pins. I had this problem my first attempt hooking up a G540. Motors would lock, but no movement.

on that topic, are your motors locking up?

I think you should get a breakout board, your computer might be putting out 3.3volts. You can find one on ebay with relay output for your spindle and coolant pump.

I have a similar problem with my vinyl cutter. I don't have a Driver serial port, it won't install to my computer

Why would you want a driver serial port? I think the parallel port cards work just fine, usb even better.
