Removing\preventing residue or scorching for deep engraving on polished plywood

    Hello,

I have an issue with removing\preventing residue or scorching for deep engraving on polished plywood.
I have used a paint tape to prevent the residue, but when I take the tape off - it creates a lot of pile and need to sand which damage the engraved lettering.
Can you please advice what I can use in order to get the best result.
    Thanks in advance.

This is an old post but, here it is…
Spray Aquanet hairspray on the acrylic before engraving. It just rinses off with warm water & no residue.

finishing with wax will do trick and painter tape on top of waxed surface.
