My experience with my new Doosan lathe has been stellar and a comparable machine through Haas would of been $30k more. I'll buy more doosans.

Just be sure—Too many guys spend 90% of their time thinking about how to make widgets and 10% how to sell them. You should be doing closer to the reverse. Also, the #1 reason businesses fail is insufficient working capital. Don’t spend so much on a machine for your best-case scenario that you can’t survive a few flat tires along the way.
Not buying too much machine starting off is definitely something that I constantly evaluate. At the end of the day I can go Tormach if my funds are more limited and still be able to make parts. No as optimum as an entry level Haas, but I can at least get started.

Exactly, and when your sales exceed the capacity of the Tormach you can buy a faster, more capable machine with proven sales volume to justify the up front cost or outsource.

Wow, that looks nice. Is that machine a mill/lathe combo?
Do you also have a vmc or could you do everything with this setup?
    Thanks

Yeah I have live tooling, y axis and c axis. Can do a lot of stuff you would on a 4th axis and more. I have VMCs also but I'll be getting rid of my tormach and fadal when I upgrade to a doosan DNM 5700 with a 4th.

Thanks. I didn’t know that fusion 360 could do full 4th axis yet so that’s good to know.
