Hi all
Anybody using Mach4 with their Chinese Machine?
If yes, how is that working?
Any Problems?

It works good with Mach4 or Mach3

Yes, I am in the process of buying a Router from China.
I have been back and forth with them for more than a month now and I am quite happy with what they offer.
They were originally trying to let me go with a Mach 3 system but why would anybody go with software which is more than 10 years old and which not will be updated anymore. So that was one of my criteria I had.
So they are making a 6090 Router which should be 100% compatible with Mach 4 which they will show me in a video before I pay the rest amount. (I haven't paid anything yet).
I am just interested to hear about peoples experiences with Mach4 and also any experience with a 4 axis machine and Mach 4.
Thanks
I've only heard of one Mach4 compatible motion card from China, and I don't think it worked well.
I wouldn't buy a chinese controller for Mach3, as they all have some issues. With Mach4 being far more complex, I'd be surprised if you got a 100% fully functional Mach4 card.

Yes, we stuck with an older software that is no longer being developed OR a new software that it still having plugins made for it.....OR go with something like UCCNC.
Its a hard call, I guess. Not sometning I can offer an option. I only have experience with Mach 3, but have just bought a ESS which does have a Mach 4 plugin, for when I make the leap.
You can buy a machine with DB25 Breakout board. After you have the machine, you can add the UC400 board or UC100. So you can work with UCCNC or add ESS board for Mach4

Ok thanks guys for the answers.
I have ordered the machine, so I will give it a chance and if it's not working properly with Mach4 I will try some of your suggestions.
Thanks
why would anybody go with software which is more than 10 years old and which not will be updated anymore.
For many of us, the answer is 'because it is a well-known technology which quite well'.

Hi Roger
As you can see I am a Newbie, but I am sure that there will be things you can do with Mach4 which you cant do in Mach3 or just working smarter or...?
Cheers
Last time I looked, there were things I could do with Mach3 but not with Mach4.
Mach3 does have a couple of problems. The underlying design has one or two internal conflicts which cannot be resolved, and there is a suspicion you could maybe get a race condition. That said, there are thousands, many thousands, of happy users. We just avoid a few extremely complex programming features (which are never invoked by CAM) and continue machining.
It's a trade-off. Well-tested very popular (wide user support) not-quite perfect vs not yet finished and with possible unknown bugs and missing some features.

W7, Mach3 .062, ESS, MB-02 (x2), Gecko 320s, etc
Ahhh ok. But isn't it like this, if my machine can work with Mach4 wouldn't it also work with Mach3 if I for unknown reasons would prefer Mach3?

just get what can do all Mach3, Mach4 or UCCNC a uc100 or uc400

being disabled is not a hindrance it gives you attitude

That would depend on if the motion controller you are using supports both Mach3 and Mach4. There are some Mach4 only controllers.
