Thank you, Ger.
I'll just set it to 10 then.
Looked at downloads at UCCNC's website.
Couldn't find any plugin for that.

Your amp rating for the drive should be preset and not needed to be changed.
No. When mine is powered up without a previous setting for speed it goes to the minimum I have set which is 120 Hz if I recall right. Which is about 9,000 rpm. But since I have been involved in getting my ATV setup for off road its been a while. I got tired of going back and forth to my laptop to change the speed so I am now using a manual POT mounted remotely so I can just set the knob on the run to whatever the material is telling me!

Does your VFD have a Pot this you can control the speed with, if you don't have a pot we can add one, there is also a parameter that can remember what the last speed setting was so more than one thing that we can do
The max VFD current/amps should be in the spec's on the name plate of the VFD this is normally the only one they have listed

So you don't want to just control the speed with the controller? You put a lot of work into the machine and it really should be controlled by the controller in my opinion. It's going to be more work when you are running job's to manually set the spindle speed for each tool. You might want to think about using your controller for the spindle speed unless you are and it's just not working properly. In that case I can't be much help since I'm using different hardware and software than you, but I have a similar VFD and it was relatively easy to set up. If the one you're using is old and not working properly you might want to just order a new one, I only paid $264 for my spindle and VFD on Amazon. So far it's been perfect and is a genuine Haunyang 2.2kw VFD and water-cooled spindle. For the price if it only lasted a year I'd be doing ok in my opinion. Just some thoughts for what it's worth .

Dan,
This is the first time I will be using a VFD/spindle and I
am on the fence with software control.
On my other machines, when I start the router, I usually
play a bit with the rpm's and listen to nodal low points.
Each bit is a bit different and you can hear/feel it. I then
start cutting with the highest nodal point and adjust the
feed accordingly.
Just a habit, I guess and maybe not necessary with a spindle.
When you say controlled by the controller, you mean controlled
by the speed you put on in Vectric in the tools section, right?
The BoB I am using does have VFD control:
Attachment 419462
In that case, would I still be able to manually override the
spindle even when controlled by software?
I use a different controller, but from what I've seen they are all pretty similar. So yes you can adjust the speed and feed while you are running a job from the controller. You can even adjust it from your MPG since I think if I remember correctly you have one. It's just a better way of doing it, set up what you think is close in your CNC file and make the fine adjustments while running the program. Make notes of your adjustments and then update the CNC file so the next run you just have to change tools and keep a eye on it.
Dan
MPG?
I have Aspire to prepare the file and create tool paths, UCCNC software to run the tool paths, UC100 motion controller to control the servos and C11G-Rev9 BoB to handle I/O's.
Thats why I used the remote pot, on the right front of my machine top and side of the controller box, at my finger tips I can watch and hear the spindle cutting and adjust on the fly. Its got a calibrated dial I used my photo tachometer to help calibrate. The VFD is six foot away and the computer an equal distance the other way.

"MPG" I thought you had a hand controlled MPG pendant, might have been someone else. I'll post a picture of my MPG pendant. Anyway there's a guy on here that uses the UCCNC controller and he says it will do anything my Centroid controller will do I've never used it so I can't verify that.
So based on what others have said, you shouldn't have a problem controlling the spindle speed. I use Vectric as well for the tool paths so no problems there either. Here's a video of my machine in action, I haven't posted any videos since I got the MPG but I will have one up soon.

The label on my Huanyang says 11 amps.

Mine is 10amps if it helps at all.

PD077=1 worked.
Spindle starts now from the last setting.
Did you get the controller to control the spindle ok? Also are you close to getting a video of it in action yet?
Dan
Dan, right now, I am trying to get the "High Level Feed Back"
loop of the Teknic servos (HLFB) to work with the controller. One
end of the loop goes to 5V, the other end to an input on the BoB.
For some reason, the HLFB does not seem to trigger any input
on the BoB or the controller. It is supposed to stop all servos
when one servo stops but this is not the case so far.
One servo stops, the others keep going. Worst than steppers
loosing steps. You could skew the whole gantry with that.
I verified all connections with a Teknic engineer and we are trying
to get it to work but no success so far. He his very nice but so very
technical and I am so very bad with electronics and software.
So, to answer your inquiry, I got the spindle to work with the VFD,
manually, and I want to solve this HLFB issue before I start cutting.
And then do some test cuts and videos.
After that, I will concentrate to connect the VFD to the BoB and,
with your and others' help, set it up so that it will be controlled
with the controller.
One baby step at a time, I guess.....
Does UCCNC have a forum? How were you jogging the machine in your videos? Check out this guy's thread, he's using clearpaths and UCCNC as well. I'm not sure if he ever got it working right but maybe it'll be helpful. Worst case sell the UCCNC stuff and switch over to the Acorn board. There's a bunch of guys using clearpaths and they have all the info for setting them up. You'll be up and running in a afternoon.

Dan
No need to switch to Acorn, it is much less powerful than UCCNC, so I don't think that there is anything which could not be done in uccnc which can be done with the acorn.
UCCNC is very customizable not like the acorn.
Yes, UCCNC has forum: forum.cncdrive.com • Index page
David, what are you trying to achive? From your description I do not understand what you want to do.
What I understand is that the HLFB output is not working from the servos? If the output does not work then how do you expect the UCCNC to recognise a non existing signal?! LOL
