Usually you need a couple of them to move a heavy object, like a machine. It's not used like a hand truck.
I do use it that way, I have 2 of those car haulers and then the johnson bar and push around like a trike
I use this a lot around heavy machines , like my planer too
There is a variant of this tool intended for 'manual' moving of railroad cars.

Obviously, its slow, as each 'lift' only moves the rail car a few inches. Years ago a friend of mine worked summers at a small rural grain elevator and used this tool to move empty and full rail cars as each was filled.
its amazing what can be done by hand but the cost is high
and a few years back I saw one of these johnson bars as an antique and was expensive
easily made, long handle and works well , a must for a shop
