    EMCO PC 50 Mill Conversion

    Hello to all Emco Guru's

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are still knowledgeable people around on here, that can help and provide much needed advice.

Recently I purchased a Emco PC 50. Which when I first clapped eyes on the machine I have to say I was a bit disappointed about the size of it, mainly the depth (80cm), full well knowing that the machine would overhang my work bench quite a bit. My friend who was along to help me owns an F1, which has a smaller footprint of around 66cm. But after examining the rear of the cabinet, there were things I could do to reduce the size, one being removing the huge control cabinet and some trimming to the main cabinet.

The other concern was the interface, which was nothing like Mach3 or Planet CNC, in fact this alone almost put me off from buying the machine. But as Emco make really decent machines I decided to take the plunge and buy it, with the intention to update and modify it to run with Mach3 software.

So can anyone here give me advice please?

    Dave

Here´s a response from the german forums:

"Normally, they run with WinPC. For example, a Siemens controller on a PC.
Switching to Mach3 – if you plan to do that, you will probably have to change a lot.
Contact Emco, they have good support, and ask what might be possible."
