Currently converting a c0 micro lathe to cnc. Got the z axis done ok using a ballscrew but the X axis causing me a nightmare!
The saddle is so small to fit a ballscrew through I tried an 8mm T8 leadscrew assembly but the backlash is horrendous.(around +-0.25mm)
It's really difficult to find an 8mm ballscrew setup online so was wondering if any of you guys have any design ideas apart from machining out the saddle which I want to avoid.
Thanks.
Maybe you can consider adding an anti-backlash nut assembly.
Which is designed to minimize backlash by preloading the nut against the leadscrew.
