    old Camtech machine maintenance

Hello, i am new to this forum. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with some parts / maintenance advice for our old 1988 camtech 5/52 router machine. I am looking for a maintenance manual ( or someone that knows something about this machine) in order to grease the lead screw. The old books that came with the machine do not have any parts / disassembly diagrams so i am not sure how to get at the lead screw inside the box on top of the gantry. i know this is along shot, being it's SO OLD.. but anywho. thought i'd try. thnx for any info you can offer.

    Re: old Camtech machine maintenance

Welcome to the forum! It's great that you're reaching out for advice on your Camtech 5/52 router. Given the machine's age, parts and maintenance manuals can be hard to come by, but I can offer a few suggestions.

    Check for Online Resources:

Some older CNC machine forums or even Facebook groups dedicated to vintage machines may have members with the same or similar models. They might have scanned manuals or personal notes on maintenance.
You could also try contacting Camtech directly (if they're still in business) to see if they can provide any support or documentation for that model.
    Greasing the Lead Screw:

If you're unsure how to get at the lead screw, it’s likely inside a cover, as you mentioned, on top of the gantry. Often, these covers are held in place with screws or bolts, so you may need to remove them to access the lead screw.
Once the cover is removed, you should be able to inspect the lead screw and apply grease. A good quality, high-pressure grease designed for CNC machines would be ideal.
Pay attention to any seals or dust covers when disassembling, as they help keep debris out of the lead screw area.
    Grease Type and Maintenance:

Use a grease that is specifically designed for CNC machines, as it will be formulated to handle high loads and prevent wear on the lead screws.
Apply a light coat of grease and avoid over-greasing, as excess grease can attract dust and dirt, leading to more wear over time.
    Disassembly Diagrams:

While the original manual may not have disassembly diagrams, you might be able to find similar machines that share components. Look for CNC machine manuals from that era and see if they have similar gantry or lead screw setups.
