In search of Machine retrofitting gurus

    Good Day all,
I have an older Multicam router that I am hoping to bring new life to. It is a 1998 Multicam SF series 4x8 with a linear tool changer. I would like to eventually upgrade to Servo motors, but in the meantime, I am just looking for someone who can retrofit the motion controller. Can anyone point me in the direction of an outfit that may be able to accomplish this?
    Located in Portland, OR
    Thanks,
    Marc

Hi Marc - I'd fit a Dynomotion controller to it. The owner of the company can walk you through it. Like to help but I'm in Australia. Peter

I can’t claim to be a guru, but I did a dynomotion retrofit on a Milltronics VMC. I am happy with the result, after a few hiccups. I was a fairly early adopter of their new Kogna controller. The latest software version has all the bugs I was aware of ironed out.It was a lot of work to get there. Tom from dynomotion was a huge help, but I still had to muddle through things like writing my own C programs for stuff like tool changing, homing, and rigid tapping. That said there were plenty of examples so I never had to start from scratch.

Basically, if you do the retrofit yourself and are willing to learn a lot doing it, dynomotion is a great choice. And it’s incredibly versatile, you can add just about any feature you want later. But if you want to pay someone else to do it for you, you might want to see what they are already familiar with, or you might be paying them for a lot of learning time.

If you want to see a machine running a dynomotion controller, I am in Oregon and would be willing to show you, but I’m in Klamath Falls, so not exactly close to you.
