Thinking of changing from Valcool 790 to Blaser swisslube for our Haas VMC, due to bacteria and avaliablity .
any reasons not to change before we purchase?

The shop I work in just changed from Blasser to Liquid Ice. I like the liquid ice a lot better. We cut mostly aluminum.
Blaser is good stuff but it goes rancid fast if you don't maintain it. it also tends to stain brass unless you rinse the parts off with water.
I don't know much about anything but I know a little about everything....
I worked in a shop (couple of them actually) that used Blasser. Caused me no end of skin irritation problems
I used Valcool 800 in my shop with none of those issues, and have just changed to Hangstifers CF500s and am very happy with it. No staining, irritation, or rancid issues. I cut a lot of stainless and aluminum
Never had any problem with Blaser (Blasocut 4000 strong).
Keep the tramp oil cleaned off, and watch the concentration...
It's a good company, a good product, and works well on aliminium, steel, stainless.
We use blaser as well. It works good and doesn't get nearly as funkey as Val-Cool turn tec blue. The blaser tastes alright and you know for sure you will get to try it eventually. We run 9% and machine only 7075. It does however seem to be taking the paint off the machine a little bit. I don't really like that, but it does do what its supposed to.

I know this is an old thread, but I just found something nice...
Blaser sells a product called "Metal Deactivator" (#29107) that is specifically for discolouration problems caused by their coolant on brass and copper.
I asked their tech people how to solve a problem we were having with a heavy, dark, splotchy patina (and eventually corrosion) on some OFE copper parts we are running. He knew instantly what I was describing, and said this deactivator is the answer.
$20 for a 1-liter bottle of the stuff, and it only took 2oz to treat our HAAS VF-2 tank (40 gallons, I believe.)
The problem went away instantly.
Good stuff!
