I have solidworks 2007 and camworks 2007 with sn# from my job my boss
dose not want to update to solidworks 2008 and camworks 2008 so I got
my own copy of solidworks 2008 but when I install 2008 2007 will not work
any more sn# are different. Is there a way to run 2008 and 2007 on the
same computer with diffrent sn#. camworks 2007 addin will not work in 2008.

I have not tried it, but, when you run the installer it usually asks if you want to upgrade or install new.
I know that others have run both on the same system.
This ? would be answered quickly on the SW forum. Use your serial # to register.

You can run many different versions of SW on your PC, however you must create new directories for the program.SW discourages this, as the registry entries get complicated for the OS.

Your supposed to be able to do it, but be mighty careful who you set it up. I thought I had it beat and installed 08 in beside 07 w/ the installation manager.. and I've had nothing but problems for the last month. Stuff that my VAR was just scratching their heads over.. saying " it's not possible"

So yest, I ripped it all off, wiped the registry and started again.. this morning.. things are working much better..

    my 2 cents...

BUD B posted the same thing over in the Camworks forum too.

I use SWX 07 on my work computer and Camworks 07 and 08 for 07.

At home, I have SWX 07 and 08 and Camworks 08 for 08.

The Solidworks installs all use the same licence number, all registered with Solidworks. I have a licence server for Camworks.

As far as I know, AFAIK :-), you can't have two different licence numbers to two different installs of SWX on the same computer. I can see where it might be useful, keeping old versions alive for clients who haven't upgraded.
But if I were keeping old versions for that reason, then I'd use another computer to keep those versions on. The newer licence requirements for 07 and 08 may cause a problem for versions before 07.

BUD B isn't clear about where he's installing SWX 08, but 07 should work and Camworks should work if he downloads CWX 08 for SWX 07. With Camworks 08 there are updates for it's licence, he needs the latest server and licence file OR he'll need to update his dongle with the latest COD file.

    Unhappy

SW could just solve this damn issue for us and make it possible to save parts as legacy.. almost every other vendor does it..
