Are you sure it's alarm 078? An alarm 087 would be an RS232 buffer overflow condition.
The P/S alarms are usually program format alarms I show this in the alarm list
P/S 078 NUMBER NOT FOUND A program number or a sequence number which was specified by address
P in the block which includes an M98, M99, M65 or G66 was not
found. The sequence number specified by a GOTO statement was not
found. An attempt was made to call a program being edited

yes as you said Dan Fritz it is alarm 087
RS232 buffer overflow condition. ,what to do please ???
It drive me crazy ...
PS087 alarms occur when the PC sends 10 characters after the CNC has told it to pause.
Are you using a laptop with USB to Serial adapter? I've had handshake problems with these in the past. I would recommend a PCMCIA Serial adapter if you have to use a laptop.
You might also try turning off the FIFO buffers in Windows Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - Ports - Port Settings - Advanced. Move the sliders all the way to the left, then check the "Do not use FIFO buffers." Okay everything then reboot the computer.
..And of course, your DNC s/w should be set for XON/XOFF software handshake.

What software are you using to communicate with?
Are you using a 3 wire cable with the Handshake jumpered out?
What is the model of control?

I dont know what does it mean ? I am new to this , but it was sending without problem ( i mean the cable is good )

You have not indicated what Fanuc model this is, the alarm codes can vary, if it was working on the DNC and now you have o87 alarm, it could mean there is a problem with the I/O port.

it was working probably , we were doing cavity for blow mold & we did the rough program we did it in two ways buffer and save butthe finish program was too long to save , that is why we tried to do buffer !!

Well here is the P/S alarm right out of the manual.
'087 BUFFER OVERFLOW When entering data in the memory by using Reader / Puncher interface,
though the read terminate command is specified, input is not interrupted
after 10 characters read. I/O unit or P.C.B. is defective.'
It looks like the handshake is not on, if the external PC does not stop or sends more than 10 characters after the DC3 stop code has been sent from the CNC, then 087 alarm will occur.
What transmission baud rate are you using?

You can try 4800 or 2400 baud, you have to change it both ends, make sure the PC software is set for software handshake, if you want the Fanuc RS232 manual, you can send me a email address via P.M.

I can change it on the PC but I have no idea how to get it on the CNC , i dont know how to do it ? where ?
make sure the PC software is set for software handshake,
my DNC software is so simple there is no option or setting to change ..

Try this software http://www.cadem.com/ it's free...I had problems with sdnc...use this software an you can adjust the 10 characters to help eliminate this alarm.
The two parameters that deal with baud rate are 0552 or 0553 depending on what port you are using, you have to set the PWE bit on the setting screen to 1. to change the parameter, change it back to zero when done.
page 33 shows the baud rate numbers.
