Contest over here's the winner...
Here is my Bumper Sticker contribution.
I know that it's a bit messy and probably in the wrong format (not a vector thingo) but that's the best I can do. It's a simple & clean 3D concept that I am trying to convey.
and i thought i am through, here's a couple.
hoping to inspire more creative dudes to post.

ummmm.... Who won?

Here's my entry-
one more. i promise it's the last
am not trying to win the contest btw,
just merely provoking other creative peeps to post!
so joe et al could have a lot of choices.
plus i kinda like the color, :rainfro: atleast on my screen.

THREE MORE DAYS LEFT

my entry idea is basically a machine name plate.
any arrangement of the ideas in my design are possible, but the concept is to fashion the logo after a standard machine plate (changes could be made to include other stats)
my simple logo idea is using rounded corners, and that notorious circle left after any pass. i think its simple, subtle, and clean.
i envision the owner using a sharpie marker to fill in some details, so that in photos the relevant information is available.

i used Inkscape to create these vector images.
Nothing super exciting here, just a simple treatment:
I can re-do in vector format if needed.
Thanks for the chance.

I've been "lurking" around here for a while now. The idea of building my own CNC machine completely blows me away. I've always wanted one but never thought I could afford it until I found this site (I linked here a few weeks ago from a robotics site). From everything I've gathered in the 50 plus pages on Joe's CNC thread, his machine sounds like the state of the art. I'd love to build this machine and the prospect of winning a set of plans got me to finally register here and offer up a "few" submissions for his contest.
As you can see below, my submissions are a variation on a theme that I original drew up in CAD since I had to learn illustrator to produce a vector based graphic. I just really wanted a strong, simple design that looked it belonged on serious peice of machinery (i kept referring back to the sample image of Bob's machine). I've posted JPEG samples below. If you guys like the concept and pick your favorite design, the colors could easily be modified to match the different paint colors people are choosing for their own machines. For example I could make up 5 or 6 (blue, red, yellow, green, orange, purple....i hope nobody paints their machine purple, though) to go with a variety of colors. I believe a few of these designs are even suitable for vinyl cutouts.
Anyway, I hope you like the designs. It was a great learning experience in logo design, Illustrator and vector based graphics (but I still hope I win!). I'll be forwarding a full sized vector based PDF sample to you, Joe, so you can see the formating. Is there a better file format to send? EPS?
And my last attempt.
Good luck to everyone.
Jason
personally i like the idea of keeping it somewhat simple for a name plate as too much detail won't really show, i like this one & please note i am in no way affiliated with caravaggio:
Ok it's 3 days past the 16th... so ummm.... Who won?

Joe
Well It is time to announce the Winner...... And the winner is "caravaggio"
I like the Simple design with the Machine name on it, something that does not overpower the machine and take away from it caricature.
Before anyone get sad or upset, I have also decided to offer all those who entered before May 16th, 2008 a discount on the plans for your hard work in your design, which i may make a screen saver or possibly use in a Mach3 screen design, you never know. The Price for these people will be 50.00 for the plans which are normally 100.00.
to get the 50.00 price just email me, (e-mail not message here) your request and also include your user name here and your entry post #.
Here are the two which i will ask him to combine into one design.
Thanks again,
Joe.
Congratulations caravaggio.
Great submissions to Joe's contest.
Also, welcome to CNC Zone.
I'll look forward to following the build log that I hope you post when you get the plans for a fine new machine.
(Good choice Joe!)
